Family and Consumer Science Skills
This course will include a variety of learning experiences, such as, food and nutrition, fashions and textiles, child development and family relationships, teen issues and career pathways, as well as, expanded and related issues of consumer skills beyond those gained in Personal Finance.
Clothing and Textiles
This course is designed for students who are interested in developing basic sewing skills. Understanding of measurement, pattern and fabric selection, pattern adjustments, sewing equipment care and maintenance, as well as, hand and machine sewing techniques will be taught.
Foods I
This course is designed for students who are interested in understanding the principles of basic food preparation, as well as, the foundations for a healthy lifestyle through proper nutrition, food safety, personal health, and well-being. In addition, diet analysis and career opportunities will be discussed. Students will also learn to work together as a team, developing time management skills.
